I just saw the simmer above me comment on how large the save game files are. I think it would be neat, again optional and available to use at will, while being able to turn it all off and play my own way as well. I've heard of the other game, not sure of the name now that is a contained world and you are just a person in it. , would you like to steal.if it is clicked on. Meet other sims, go to the neighborhoods that you have bought, and be given lots of options. You can choose your own job, but you would be competing with other players. You can make or import the house of your choosing. You choose the size lot you want in a virtual world made and upkept by EA. If I was EA and did this, I would add an option saying community where the offline option is. I want to be able to play my private games offline or online as I do now. I think that it probably were such considerations that finally caused EA to change their plans so the Sims 4 finally became a singleplayer game instead. Even so it would be expensive for EA unless they made us pay a monthly subscription which wouldn't be very popular. Therefore it can't really be done unless the game is simplified so the files become much smaller. To save the game online is difficult in this game because the savegames are huge files. The only way to keep going and have both games be synced is if the game is constantly saved to a server, and basically remains online. This will mean that if you both go offline and both continue that you will have to choose. What happens when you start up again? You either play where you left off just before going offline, or you make your continued game online. If yes, then the game can be continued offline, in which case you can just interact with the other player's Sims, just as if you were playing a single player The Sims and downloaded your friend's Sims into your game. If no, then you just continue where you left off next time you are both/all are online again. One idea would be to make it so that when you are first setting up the game with your friend(s) that you have the option to select whether or not the game continues if one of you leaves. What if another player wants his sims to flirt with our sims while we want something different to happen?" "Should it be possible for other players to build relationships with our sims while we are offline? I would love an optional multiplayer mode for The Sims (especially if LAN was also an option), and have happily signed the petition, thanks to problems regarding what happens when one goes offline such as asks: It could very well end up being a large online world, accessible to those who turn it on.

There is no problem if it is optional: as optional pleases both those who want multiplayer and those who rather have The Sims stay single player. It is the permanently online part that was the problem. The Sims 4 was going to be online, but they wanted it to be permanently online.
